There are choices, choices that we make or choices that makes us.
I really wonder how do I define the best choices. Is it by putting oneself to last? They say, find something more important than you are, But how, exactly, do we find that? Surely, it isn’t by luck. I myself am a firm believer in the power of curiosity and choice as the engine of fulfilment, but precisely how you arrive at your true calling is an intricate and highly individual dance of discovery. Still, there are certain factors — certain choices — that make it easier.
I heard people giving especial importance on social validation and the false merit metric of “prestige”. I mean, how social norms can define one’s choices?
What one should not do, I think, is worry about the opinion of anyone beyond your friends & family. They are & will be the ones’s who will act in your best always. Period.
& Prestige is merely the opinion of the rest of the world, it is that powerful magnet that warps even your beliefs about what you enjoy. In my opinion it is just a fossilised inspiration that we’ve cultivated by giving so much importance to it.
Your choices are going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great. It could anything; work, gymming, shopping, writing... anything!
And the only way to do it by perfection is by loving it.
As Steve Jobs says, “love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
